and to me pictures reveal more than I can ever say, well that is without all the nervous chatter.. Today I was playing with various partners (equine! ) and on my way in I heard my thoughts talking to myself-commenting on how much fun I'd had-how it is not work it is all about play and how I wish more people could find that secret with their horses. That joy! So I am sharing it now with you. Too many times we all observe a horse with it's human- and unaware of what they are doing, the human, in trying to "teach"their horse instead , unknowingly, is pointing out how wrong his horse is all the time . Highlighting that fact by trying to correct. As a kid that was my experience as well. If I did "right" I got by the radar but if I did wrong? All sorts of bad chaotic attention! After a while in a bit of an unhealthy way it was what I experienced as getting attention. Horses are like us -they really don't learn from criticism or punishment-well, they learn but it's all about what to fear. One thing among the many I thank the Parelli's for (in my head) is pointing out to humans what they figured out. All their secrets. We are more than blessed we are on the planet at the same time and can make the choice to soak in their good ways. Such a gift. Thank God, I always think, this information is being shared-and then, thank God my ears and eyes were ready to take it all in. Back to this secret. One secret they share (really should be called logic if us humans didn't let ego get in our way) Horses, like children and adults, need our recognition of how right they are-not attention for how wrong they are all the time. Ever since this sunk in with me my life with horses has changed. I go out to play each day and can't wait to see what's next! There is no agenda -the things I would have thought wrong moons ago are the ah ha moments- now something new to play with! Instead of focusing on a wrong-I ask again and celebrate the joy in the slightest try. You know what? People respond better to this too. They like you better for pointing out their successes-life is too short to focus on the perceived negatives. They then want to listen to you and share back.Try it. It is Contagious when you try it with your horses, you are more on the same page-more compassionate they feel it and you feel almost self consciously over joyed to be such a good person to them and reap such rewards. When you figure out it's not about the...whatever trailer, jump-it is about the relationship. Your horse will recognize that attitude of justice and look up to you as his wise leader. He will offer you more than you ever imagined as time goes on. He will play hard to find something else he can do right! This doesn't mean you don't use your higher phases or strategies another horse might use to be their leader-the seven games all hold the keys of how to get there. The more you play them, or speak them through playing them, the more sophisticated your communication can become. And, the same goes for the results. they become plentiful, layers peel beyond your imagination when you allow this philosophy or program to work through your relationship with your horse. It's learning the lightness, then the mind how they feel, think and want to be. It helps to take all that into your being. Horses are not a tool or machine-a horse can be a brilliant partner and friend-or he can resist by mirroring your attitude of injustice to him/her. It's life-being reflected back to us through everything. What a gift God or whatever we call this life force has done- to help me to find it all in my beloved friends, my animals (angels?)and be able to allow that attitude of leadership, respect and justice to create even better human experiences as well. I am so grateful for that.,, Ellen |
